SHOULD YOU USE A LOTION, CREAM, GEL, SERUM, LIQUID, MOUSSE, OR BALM?

Aside from the actual antioxidants, cell-communicating ingredients, and ingredients that mimic skin structure, the question women are most confused by is: What should the consistency of their moisturizer or anti-wrinkle product be? The answer is: It does't matter. This is all about personal preference. State-of-the-art ingredients are the necessary substances in any "moisturizer" or "specialty product," but the base---the ingredients that make the product a gel, cream, lotion, serum, liquid, or mousse---are inconsequential. Think of it like a chocolate dessert. You might prefer a torte, pudding, bonbon, cake, ice cream or some other form, but the chocolate is what counts; the other ingredients are there simply to carry the important taste of chocolate to your mouth.

As a general rule, those with oily or combination skin will prefer lighter-weight lotions, gels, serums, or liquids (think of really well-formulated toners without irritants, and with lots of state-of-the-art ingredients). Those with dry skin usually prefer creams or more emolient formulations to make up for what their oil glands don't provide. And those with blemish-prone skin generally do better with moisturizers that have a thinner consistency.
